There is a lot of information from quit smoking experts that will tell smokers that quitting is about the hardest thing to do. That success is low and relapse is high.
There are even quitting smoking experts that will tell you to remind yourself that quitting is about the hardest thing you will ever do. That way it helps keep your resolve to quit. To me, this is a huge part of the problem.
Why would anyone want to re enforce this message to themselves? A person who is quitting smoking is probably going to go into the quit already scared and already thinking that it is going to be hard. So what benefit is it to keep telling themselves this message?
There is no benefit to it. All it is going to do is make a person worry about the anticipation of what bad things will come when they quit smoking. Often times the anticipation of something bad happening are a lot worse than the actual event that the person was worrying about. Also the anticipation and fear can actually cause the event
