vigilance

Eighteen months quit.Sometimes I feel like it's all behind me ... that smoking is only in my past. I went to a pulmonologist when I quit. I figured that I should find out how much damage I had managed to achieve in 45 years of smoking, He sent me for a series of tests including a cat scan of my lungs. He found a spot of undetermined origin. So, every so often I have to go back for some more tests to find out whether I have managed to kill myself or not. After several more scans, It seems that the spot may be benign.So, for now, the verdict is that I have managed to dodge a cancerous bullet and might actually live to a "normal" old age. My lungs are not as healthy as those of someone who never smoked... but they might be just healthy enough to keep me going for a "normal" life span.Just recently I had a very thought-provoking conversation.
