RESLIENCE

Resilience.Recently my employer sponsored a mission day where the topic was RESILIENCE. This is the positive capacity to cope with stress and adversity. This is just the oppositive of negative ways to cope e.g., alcohol abuse, drug abuse, nicotine abuse, and lesser sins. I thought the concept was worth sharing here.The American Psycihiatric Assoiciation suggests “10 Ways to Build Resilience” are:1. Maintain good relationships with close family members, friends and others2. Avoid seeing crisis and stressful events as unbearable problems3. Accept circumstances that cannot be changed4. Develop realistic goals and move towards them5. Take decisive actions in adverse situations 6. Look for opportuities for self-discovery after a stuggle with loss7. Develop self-confidence8. Keep a long term perspective and consider the stressful event in a broader context9. Maintian a hopeful outlook, expecting good things and visualizing what is wished10. Take care of your mind and body,
